FATF Says Most DeFi Platforms Should Fall Under AML Rules

The Financial Action Task Force said many DeFi platforms should be subject to anti-money-laundering rules when identifiable people retain control or sufficient influence. According to NS3.AI, nearly 93% of surveyed jurisdictions have not applied these standards to qualifying DeFi arrangements. The report urged countries to regulate those controllers as virtual asset service providers. FATF said only a genuinely leaderless minority falls outside its standards, and just two jurisdictions have licensed or registered a qualifying platform.
