According to Axios, Republican megadonor Ken Griffin said at a private conference Wednesday that he would support Secretary of State Marco Rubio over Vice President JD Vance in a potential 2028 Republican presidential primary matchup. Axios reported Griffin made the remarks during a Q&A at the Allen & Company conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, after being asked by New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin; Griffin cited his past support for Rubio, including donations during Rubio’s 2016 presidential run. Axios noted Griffin gave more than $100 million in 2024 and was the fifth-biggest donor in the cycle, while Rubio has said he would defer to Vance if the vice president runs in 2028.
