STOCKS | HKEX's LME Weighs Easing Warehouse Rules to Allow Outdoor Aluminum Storage in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing's London Metal Exchange (LME) is considering relaxing some warehousing requirements, including allowing aluminum products to be stored outdoors, to address limited suitable sites in Hong Kong and boost the city's status as a metals warehousing location, according to Ming Pao, citing a Reuters report. Separately, Bao Jiayin, a member of the Taxation Committee (Greater China) of CPA Australia, said Hong Kong's Legislative Council on June 24 conducted the first and second readings of the "Inland Revenue (Amendment) (Tax Concessions for Shipping-related Activities and Transactions in Physical Commodities) Bill 2026". The bill includes a proposed 8.25% half-rate tax concession for transactions in physical commodities.
