Evercore ISI: Do Not Expect Policy Guidance From Fed Chair Kevin Warsh in Speech

According to Jin10, analysts said investors should not expect Warsh to provide forward guidance on the future path of monetary policy. Warsh has previously stated that he wants to reduce the Federal Reserve’s use of forward guidance and has argued that it has not been helpful for the central bank in practice. However, the speech may offer insight into how he evaluates inflation and the broader economy. Krishna Guha, head of strategy and economics at Evercore ISI, said markets would focus on how Warsh describes the inflation outlook and its drivers. Guha cited factors including falling oil prices, easing inflation expectations, other commodity trends, a stronger U.S. dollar, and cost spillovers linked to artificial intelligence.
