BlackBerry pivots to 'uncrashable' AI and robotics software layer as shares surge

BlackBerry is repositioning itself as a mission-critical software layer for “Physical AI” and robotics, centered on its QNX framework, as its stock jumps nearly 23% on Thursday after a major earnings beat and raised guidance. According to CoinDesk, BlackBerry CEO John Giamatteo said QNX is deterministic and safety certified, making it hard to replicate and suited for systems where failure is not an option; the software is used by Nvidia and AMD in applications such as smart cars and warehouse robots.
