Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and its co-founders, Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, have emerged as the largest known political donors in the current midterm election cycle, according to The New York Times. The venture capital firm disclosed federal donations exceeding $115 million, surpassing contributions from George Soros ($102.9 million), Elon Musk ($85 million), and Jeff Yass ($81.8 million).
This marks a significant increase compared to the approximately $63 million donated during the 2024 election cycle. Notably, on November 6, 2024, the day after the general election, a16z injected over $23 million into major super political action committees within the cryptocurrency industry, indicating a clear long-term strategic intent in their political engagements.
