The FBI said North Korea was responsible for the theft of more than $6 billion of virtual assets from Binance on or about Oct. 29, according to a post from its Cyber Branch on X. The bureau refers to this North Korean malicious cyber activity as "TraderTraitor."The FBI, working with the US Secret Service and IRS Criminal Investigation, has observed TraderTraitor actors converting the stolen assets mainly into ether. Those holdings are expected to be laundered further through DeFi and instant swap services as the group prepares subsequent stages. The three agencies urged private-sector players — including THORNode operators, RPC node operators, instant exchanges, DeFi services, blockchain analytics firms and other virtual asset service providers — to block transactions with, or derived from, addresses the actors are using to launder the funds. A list of associated addresses was published in the FBI alert.

OneKey founder Yishi urged users to move seed phrases stored on iPhone 11 and earlier models, saying iOS updates cannot fix the devices’ chip-level vulnerabilities. According to PANews, Yishi said on November 1 that erasing an older iPhone, enabling airplane mode and using it only to store a seed phrase may not be as safe as many people assume. The affected models include the iPhone XS, XR and 11 series, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE. They have BootROM hardware vulnerabilities, including checkm8 and usbliter8, that cannot be fixed through software updates. An attacker with physical access could connect a specially designed USB device through DFU mode and execute code before the operating system starts.

The possibility of renewed U.S. strikes on Iran has left the Gulf region tense and weary. According to Sina Finance, Gulf officials are stepping up mediation efforts, concerned that their countries would be among the first affected if the conflict escalates. Several host U.S. military bases and have faced Iranian retaliation. Qatari mediators arrived in Tehran on Friday to seek ceasefire talks, described by one source as a last-ditch effort to reach an interim U.S.-Iran agreement. The talks continued in Doha on Saturday, with communication with Tehran coordinated with the United States, the source said. An official familiar with the negotiations said U.S. President Donald Trump was open to an agreement but had not ruled out renewed strikes. Vice President JD Vance, envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law and envoy Jared Kushner were pushing for a deal, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and others opposed it, the official said. An Iranian official said the next two days would determine the course of events and added that Washington wanted a positive breakthrough before the U.S. midterm elections. A White House official said the United States was in a strong position, citing U.S. military progress in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s difficult economic conditions. The official said Trump would make the decision he considered best for U.S. interests and that Washington remained in regular contact with regional allies. In Bahrain, home to the U.S. Fifth Fleet for more than 30 years, residents remain anxious after attacks involving hundreds of Iranian drones and missiles. Analysts estimated damage to the fleet’s Manama headquarters and infrastructure at hundreds of millions of dollars. The Strait of Hormuz shipping slowdown and supply-chain disruptions have pushed up supermarket prices. Gulf governments have called for de-escalation. The UAE Foreign Ministry urged greater diplomatic efforts and a political solution, while Oman’s foreign minister, Badr Albusaidi, called for a Gulf security alliance that includes Iran and Iraq. Gulf states have also expanded defense cooperation with partners such as Turkey and South Korea. Analysts and officials cited shortages of ballistic-missile interceptors and gaps in regional air defenses. They also voiced concern that a renewed U.S. attack after the midterm elections could put civilian infrastructure at risk. Senator Chris Murphy said a plan to target civilian infrastructure was “crazy” and would inevitably trigger a devastating escalation.
