Dow Posts Best Day Since Early August as Jobs Report, Big Tech and Zscaler Draw Focus

According to CNBC, the Dow Industrials posted its best day since early August as traders looked ahead to the August jobs report, with the Dow Jones consensus estimate calling for 53,000 jobs created. Kalshi said 47% of users think the number will be above 50,000, while 42% see it above 60,000, 27% above 70,000 and 24% above 80,000. The report is due at 8:30 a.m. ET on "Squawk Box." The newsletter also highlighted gains in the Magnificent Seven, including Amazon, Apple, Meta Platforms, Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft and Alphabet. Amazon rose 1.5% on Thursday and is up 32% from its February low, while Apple is up 2.6% week to date and 8% in a month. Meta Platforms has gained 5.7% in four days, Tesla is up almost 8% in four days, Nvidia is up 5% in four days, Microsoft is up 4.6% in a month and Alphabet is down 1% week to date. CNBC TV's Julia Boorstin is set to report on Hollywood as the industry closes in on a record summer for revenue, though higher ticket prices are driving the increase and overall ticket sales remain below pre-Covid levels. Shares of Imax are up 33% since the start of summer, Cinemark is up 18% and Marcus Corporation is up 41%. Zscaler CEO Jay Chaudhry is scheduled to appear on "Squawk on the Street" Friday after the cybersecurity company beat earnings estimates and guidance expectations. The stock is up 15% in a month and was marginally lower after hours.
