China Fund Accounts Hit Six-Year High in H1 2026; June New Openings Rise to 233,600

New fund account openings in China rose in June 2026, with 233,600 new accounts opened across the market, up from 200,400 in June 2025, according to Jiemian News, citing Shanghai Stock Exchange data. Total new fund accounts opened in the first half of 2026 reached 1.8315 million, the highest level in six years, up 21.73% from 1.5045 million in the first half of 2025. New fund issuance also rebounded month by month since April. In April, 165 new funds were established with total issuance of 89.094 billion yuan; in May, 132 new funds were launched with issuance rising to 103.369 billion yuan. In June, both the number of newly established funds and issuance hit year-to-date monthly highs, with 208 new funds launched and total issuance of 120.502 billion yuan.
