Crypto Industry Leaders Urge Senate to Keep Clarity Act Protections for Software Developers

Several crypto industry founders, CEOs, and investors have jointly sent a letter to Senate leadership urging lawmakers not to weaken provisions in the Clarity Act that protect software developers. According to Odaily, the letter said that removing these protections could cause the United States to lose technology developers in the sector. The U.S. Congress is advancing efforts to establish a formal regulatory framework for digital assets. The Senate Banking Committee has moved the Clarity Act forward with bipartisan support, and the bill is preparing for a vote by the full Senate. A key component of the legislation is the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA). The provision states that individuals who only write open-source software, run nodes, or help validate transactions, and who have never taken custody or control of others’ funds, should not be treated as money transmitters under federal law.
