U.S. stocks opened mixed as triple witching raised the risk of market volatility, with a large amount of options notional value set to expire. According to Sina Finance, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.11%, the S&P 500 rose 0.13%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.38%.
Robinhood rose 4.27%, Lumentum Holdings Inc. gained 3.72%, and Coherent Corp. climbed 3.55%, while Netflix fell 6.71% and International Paper dropped 3.23%. Among the “Magnificent Seven,” Alphabet rose 2.32%, Tesla gained 1.07%, Meta Platforms added 0.87%, Amazon rose 0.70%, Apple increased 0.30%, Microsoft fell 0.24%, and Nvidia declined 0.34%.
Market attention is turning back to comments from voting Federal Reserve officials after the central bank’s post-meeting communication blackout ended. Federal Reserve Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman is scheduled to speak in London on Friday.
