STOCKS | Hang Seng Rises 0.5% As Biopharma Gains Offset Zhizhu Plunge

Hong Kong stocks ended higher after a volatile session, with the Hang Seng Index up 111 points, or 0.5%, at 24,917 and main-board turnover above HK$192.6 billion, according to ETNet. Zhizhu (02513) slumped 9% after announcing a share placement and convertible bond issue that could raise up to HK$39.36 billion, while biopharma and auto shares outperformed. On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.07% for a third straight decline, while the Shenzhen Component dropped 0.64% and the ChiNext Index lost 1.1%. Total turnover in Shanghai and Shenzhen was RMB 1.63 trillion, down RMB 342.6 billion from the previous session.
