iPhone 18 Pro Preorders Spur Reports Of Suspected Credit Card Fraud

Social media users said their credit cards may have been misused after iPhone 18 Pro preorders opened last night, with customers from multiple banks affected, according to Ming Pao. Cardholders received SMS alerts showing Apple transactions, but said they had not authorized any purchases at Apple. A Hong Kong Monetary Authority spokesperson said that, in general, if a bank credit card account is used for unauthorized transactions and the cardholder has not engaged in fraud or gross negligence, the cardholder does not need to bear responsibility for the unauthorized transactions.
