Iran, Iraq and Gulf States to Hold Regional Meeting in Oman on September 14

Iran, Iraq and other Gulf coastal states will hold a regional meeting in Oman on September 14, according to Jiemian News. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the talks will cover regional issues and the results of negotiations between Iran and Oman on the security of maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Baghaei said Iran seeks to ensure shipping safety in the strait, but added that safety cannot be guaranteed as long as what he described as U.S. maritime blockade, economic warfare and illegal interference continue.
