China Biologic Says TQC3721 COPD Inhalation Powder Showed Positive Phase I Data

China Biologic Products (01177) said its independently developed TQC3721 inhalation powder, a PDE3/4 inhibitor, had two sets of Phase I clinical data presented at the 2026 European Respiratory Society annual meeting. The first part of the Phase I trial was a dose-escalation study in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to assess the safety, tolerability and preliminary dose-response relationship of TQC3721 in patients with moderate to severe COPD. The study enrolled 72 patients and found the inhalation powder significantly improved lung function, with a good safety profile and similar adverse event rates across groups, supporting further clinical development, according to ETNet. The company also said the second part of the Phase I study was a positive-drug-controlled proof-of-concept trial designed to assess the safety and preliminary efficacy of TQC3721 in combination with glycopyrronium bromide. The study was planned to enroll 40 patients, and all 40 subjects have now been enrolled and observed, with results broadly consistent with the published data.
