Sound Ventures has focused on backing more mature, leading AI companies, including OpenAI and Anthropic. Kutcher’s new fund is expected to shift toward earlier-stage investing, with a focus on foundational technology areas such as AI infrastructure, energy, and deep tech. The split was described as amicable, and Kutcher will continue to serve as an advisor to Sound Ventures.
