DCC Energy Plc shareholders approved a takeover by KKR & Co. and Energy Capital Partners valued at more than £5.7 billion ($7.6 billion), according to Bloomberg. The deal follows a drawn-out pursuit of the energy distributor.

Global cross-border commercial real estate investment rose 56% year on year to $71.8 billion in the first half of 2026, according to research data. According to Sina Finance, that was well above about $46 billion in the same period last year. By destination, Europe accounted for about 55.6% of the global total, while Asia made up about 26.9%. Outside Europe and Asia, other regions received about $12.6 billion in cross-border investment. A survey of European investors at the start of the year showed 89% expected real estate buying activity to increase or remain stable in 2026. In Asia, cross-border commercial real estate investment appetite also improved. The region attracted $19.3 billion in cross-border funds in the first half, and more than 57% of respondents said they planned to increase real estate investment in 2026. Office properties became the most preferred commercial real estate category among Asian investors for the first time in six years, followed by industrial and logistics facilities, living assets and data centers. Tokyo was ranked the most favored cross-border investment destination in Asia for the seventh consecutive year, followed by Sydney, with Singapore and Seoul tied for third. Global direct real estate investment rose 28% year on year in the second quarter, with investment up 38% in Asia-Pacific, 27% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and 26% in the Americas. The report said financing costs could still limit transaction speed in the second half.

According to CNBC, municipal bonds are offering more attractive tax-exempt income opportunities as the Federal Reserve keeps raising interest rates and Treasury yields remain elevated, with the 10-year Treasury reaching 5% on Friday. The Bloomberg Municipal Bond Index is yielding about 4.3%, while Chris Gunster, head of fixed income at Fidelis Capital, said that translates to a 7.3% tax-equivalent yield for investors in the highest tax bracket. The iShares National Muni Bond ETF (MUB) has a 30-day SEC yield of 3.8% and an expense ratio of 0.05%. Bank of America strategist Yingchen Li said the muni market is waiting for stability in Treasurys after the yield curve flattened sharply this week, and said the Fed's firmer stance plus Treasury buybacks of long bonds should support munis. The Treasury Department said last week it will buy back up to $6 billion in longer-term debt. Barclays also said it is adding exposure to municipals, with Mikhail Foux saying muni ratios have widened, index yields are near multi-year highs and investors should gradually add higher-quality names.

Meltem Demirors said Bitcoin helped build infrastructure that is now supporting artificial intelligence, but she argued that the technology’s ultimate output was not the one she would have chosen. According to NS3.AI, she said crypto companies and miners have brought energy and computing expertise into AI, while the shift by miners toward AI and high-performance computing raises a legitimate concern for Bitcoin’s security. Demirors added that Bitcoin’s difficulty adjustment can help the network adapt as computing power moves elsewhere.
