Mondelez Cuts Cadbury Supply-Chain Lead Time With $22 Million Malaysia Facility

According to CNBC, Mondelez International opened a $22 million facility in Shah Alam, Malaysia, to produce chocolate crumb locally for Cadbury products, cutting at least two months from supply-chain lead time. The company said the plant will reduce import and transportation costs and support volume growth across Southeast Asia in the coming years. Nitin Binnani, vice president of customer service and logistics for AMEA at Mondelez, said Shah Alam is the company’s sole Cadbury manufacturing hub for Southeast Asia and produces more than 130 varieties of chocolate and around 100 million bars a year. Mondelez is also exporting crumb to Pakistan to help address supply disruptions caused by interrupted shipping channels.
