Xiaomi Launches 2 Flagships With In-House Xuanjie O3 Chip; Plans 50 Billion Yuan, 10-Year Chip Investment

Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, both powered by its in-house Xuanjie O3 chip, marking the processor's move into mass commercial use, according to Jiemian News. Xiaomi said the Xuanjie O100 and Xuanjie D100 chips are also scheduled to enter commercial use next year. The Xiaomi 18 Fold was started two years ago and took more than 20 months to develop. Xiaomi said it is the first foldable model to be included in its digital flagship lineup. The phone uses Xiaomi's self-developed Xuanjie O3 AI flagship processor, Xiaomi HyperOS 4 and the Xiaomi MiMo on-device large model. Xiaomi also said it worked with ChangXin Memory Technologies to mass-produce domestic LPDDR6 in flagship devices. The handset features a 7.58-inch inner display and a 5.38-inch outer display, a Leica triple-camera system with a 200-megapixel main camera and 3.5x periscope telephoto lens, a 6,000mAh battery, 67-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging. Xiaomi said the foldable uses a new Dragon Bone hinge with a three-stage linkage structure and high-strength 7-series aluminum alloy, and underwent more than 80,000 full-device drop tests and 492 design optimizations before launch. It said the average crease depth was kept below 30 micrometers. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max ships with HyperOS 4 and adds productivity features including WPS for Pad, support for the professional version of Jianying, and PixelCake, plus the Super Xiaoai AI office suite. Xiaomi said it plans to invest 50 billion yuan in chips over 10 years and has invested 21 billion yuan so far.
