Sen. Gillibrand Renews Push to Bar Politicians and Spouses From Promoting Crypto After Trump Disclosures

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand renewed calls to ban politicians and their spouses from issuing or promoting crypto assets after U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed more than $1.2 billion in crypto income last year. According to NS3.AI, the proposed restriction would also apply to meme coins, including a Solana-based meme coin that reportedly earned Trump more than $635 million. Gillibrand’s comments follow the disclosure and focus on limiting elected officials’ involvement in crypto-related promotions and issuances.
