The Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, has called on regulators to allow regulated exchanges to offer 24/7 on-chain perpetual contract trading. According to Odaily, ICE CEO Jeffrey Sprecher stated that regulators are currently restricting traditional exchanges from entering this space, despite the existence of such markets on-chain. Sprecher emphasized the need for a level playing field where traditional financial systems and crypto markets can compete under the same rules.
ICE has reportedly engaged in multiple discussions with decentralized derivatives trading platforms to explore the mechanisms of on-chain perpetual contracts. These discussions aim to investigate the potential collaboration and integration paths between traditional finance and the crypto market.
