UBS strategists said the U.K.'s improving earnings outlook should support equities and raised their 2026 earnings growth forecast for the country to 16% from 11%. UBS kept a Neutral rating on U.K. stocks but said it expects earnings growth to remain robust at 9% in 2027 and favors banks, industrials, consumer discretionary and health care.

Nasdaq 100 futures, which are heavily weighted toward technology stocks, widened gains to 1.1%. According to Sina Finance, the Fed's policy outlook reassured investors and led them to believe it would continue efforts to curb inflation, while bond yields eased. S&P 500 futures rose 0.8%, and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield was slightly below 5%.

Japan's main banking industry group warned that government bond yields could continue to rise, creating risks of asset write-downs and weaker profits. According to Sina Finance, Japan Bankers Association President Masahiko Kato said at a Thursday news conference that continued increases in Japanese government bond yields could lead to asset impairment and actual losses. Kato said banks may wait to add more Japanese government bonds until the yield outlook becomes clearer and policy rates reach a peak.
