South Korea's presidential office said President Lee Jae-myung will meet Khaldoon Al Mubarak, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, on Friday. According to Sina Finance, Lee will review progress in bilateral cooperation since his state visit to the UAE last November and convey greetings to UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Mubarak and Kang Hoon-sik, chief of staff to the South Korean president, are expected to discuss expanding cooperation in defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear power, space, and culture.

Concrete announced the launch of Concrete Foundation, a governance and treasury entity designed to support the protocol’s long-term development, along with its native governance and configuration token, CT. According to ChainCatcher, eligible holders can lock or stake CT to participate in protocol governance and use certain configuration features under applicable rules. CT is issued by Concrete Network, Ltd., which is also seeking trading access for the token. The project said TGE details will be announced separately, and there are currently no plans for claims, presales, or early access. CT is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum with a fixed supply of 1 billion and no inflation mechanism. Locked CT holders can vote on protocol parameters including strategy approvals, collateral classification, fee frameworks, and treasury-related policies. Users who stake CT can adjust certain protocol-side fees for their own interactions with support modules under predefined technical parameters. Concrete Foundation is a Cayman Islands foundation company that coordinates protocol governance and holds and manages the CT treasury. Treasury resources may be used for protocol development and maintenance, security audits, ecosystem integrations, and foundation administrative expenses. Concrete said its ecosystem has $1.2 billion in deposits, more than $23 billion in cumulative trading volume, over 54,000 depositors, and more than 1.2 million connected and signature-verified wallets. Through AssetCX, it has integrated custody from BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A. and Ceffu. Concrete’s products include Earn, Vaults, enterprise white-label infrastructure, and the custodial-native AssetCX.

A Citigroup Inc. trader said the won’s recent weakness may be short-lived as South Korea’s chip sector supports growth and the currency’s recovery against the dollar by year-end, according to Bloomberg. The trader said to buy the won near 1,400 per dollar.

South Korean stocks opened sharply higher on Friday, extending Wall Street's overnight gains as lower oil prices and a Federal Reserve rate hike eased inflation concerns. The S&P 500 gained 1.14%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 1.69%. Brent crude fell nearly 1% on Thursday to about $104 a barrel, and lower oil prices also pushed bond yields lower. The Federal Reserve had raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points, its first increase in more than three years, to combat inflation.

Previously unreleased early recordings by David Bowie will be available to buy and stream from Friday, including five songs found by music historian Alec Palao and five more tracks he later obtained, BBC reported. The material forms part of a new posthumous album, The Shel Talmy Recordings, which also includes demos and remastered songs. Six of the unreleased tracks will be issued on vinyl, with a limited edition sold at Record Store Day and HMV outlets. Bowie’s estate licensed the album to Warner Music Group subsidiary Parlophone, and royalties will be paid to the estate.

John Healey will urge EU finance ministers in Dublin on Friday to let the UK join the bloc’s “Made in Europe” industrial scheme, warning against measures that could deepen barriers for British firms, according to BBC reported. Treasury sources said he will press for closer UK-EU ties on tech, defence and manufacturing, and will argue the EU should design the Industrial Accelerator Act in a way that supports supply chains rather than excluding UK businesses. The scheme is intended to protect EU manufacturing from unfair competition from outside countries, and UK officials are concerned it could lock British firms out of European supply chains. Healey is also expected to tell ministers to learn lessons from failed talks last year over Britain joining an EU defence loans scheme, which collapsed over how much the UK would pay. Treasury sources said a wider UK-EU reset summit is now expected in November.
