The crypto market has rebounded over the past month, but annual gains remain concentrated in privacy coins. Bitcoin is down 36% from its October 2025 all-time high, and the median price of the top 200 crypto assets is 58% below its peak. All other sectors remain below prior highs, including DeFi, which is down 27%, and gaming, which has fallen 74%. Over the past year, Zcash has gained 2,496% and now represents 62% of the privacy sector's total market value. Still, the rally was not driven by a single token alone. All eight privacy coins listed for a full year posted gains, while only one-eighth of the top 200 assets rose. Excluding Zcash, the market-cap-weighted privacy coin basket is still up 85% this year and 56% since Bitcoin's October high. Over the past 90 days, DASH, Monero, and ZEN all outperformed Bitcoin. Among the top 25 assets by market value, only four traded above their October 6 high: Zcash, HYPE, Monero, and WBT, with two of them in the privacy sector. HYPE was described as an isolated move, and without it, DeFi is down 46% this year. Ethereum and Dogecoin also remain below their previous highs. Of the top 200 crypto assets, 91.5% rose over the past 30 days, marking the broadest monthly advance in the sample. On a yearly basis, however, only 25 coins are higher, and the median coin is down 55%. The 30-day return dispersion across the 10 sector indexes was the highest since November 20, 2025.
