CryptoPunks are 10,000 unique collectible characters, with proof of ownership stored on the Ethereum blockchain. The project was inspired by the London punk scenes and the cyberpunk movement. It is one of the earliest examples of a "Non-Fungible Token" on Ethereum, and was an inspiration for the ERC-721 standard that powers most digital art and collectibles. The project was launched in June 2017 by Larva Labs studio.
