According to ChainCatcher, Telegram founder Pavel Durov addressed recent concerns surrounding the company on January 7 via the X platform. Durov clarified that Telegram's capital structure has no ties to Russia, emphasizing that the recent $1.7 billion bond issuance did not involve any Russian investors.
Durov further explained that the old debt issued by Telegram in 2021 has been largely repaid and does not pose a current risk. He also highlighted that bondholders are not equivalent to company shareholders, reaffirming that he remains the sole shareholder of Telegram, with no direct relationship between bonds and equity.
