Binance Academy Launches Free Course on Off-Chain Computing

Binance Blog published a new article, introducing Binance Academy's latest educational initiative in collaboration with the Marlin Foundation. This free curriculum is designed for Web2 and Web3 developers, focusing on integrating existing backends into the blockchain using off-chain computing units within a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). The course aims to mentor developers of all experience levels, showcasing practical applications such as an AI-based job-matching app on the BNB Chain. Through these educational efforts, Binance Academy seeks to empower the next generation of decentralized computing innovators. The course, titled 'Off-chain Computing Using TEE Coprocessors,' is led by Souvik Mishra, Engineering Lead at Maris. It provides a comprehensive guide to building scalable, production-ready systems in decentralized environments. Starting with a theoretical foundation, the course addresses the limitations of on-chain computation and the necessity of off-chain solutions like rollups and coprocessors. It explains how TEEs enable secure, trust-minimized computation, offering both flexibility and strong security guarantees. Participants engage in practical, interactive modules featuring real deployments of AI and DeFi applications powered by TEE coprocessors. Accessible to the public at no cost via Binance Academy, the course is recommended for aspiring tech professionals of all levels. Module topics include Types of Coprocessors, Virtual Machines vs. Serverless Computing, Key Management Systems, NodeJS servers, and Serverless Subscriptions. The course is designed to develop and strengthen key skills in off-chain computing, secure execution, and decentralized application development. The launch of this course comes at a crucial time as the demand for decentralized applications (DApps) grows, highlighting the limitations of on-chain computing in terms of scalability and privacy. Industry giants like Google, Apple, and Microsoft have already integrated TEEs and confidential computing as standards for protecting sensitive user data and proprietary AI models within their cloud infrastructure. Binance Academy and Marlin are now leading efforts to bring these standards to the decentralized web. The Marlin Foundation, an open Web3 infrastructure project focused on high-performance networking and decentralized computing, supports this initiative. With $3 million in seed round financing from Binance Labs in 2019, Marlin aims to provide developers with the tools needed to build performant, production-ready decentralized applications.
