Core DAO Says b14g Vulnerability Does Not Affect Core Network Security

Core DAO says a vulnerability affecting b14g’s Bitcoin dual-staking layer has not compromised the security of the Core network. According to Foresight News, Core DAO is working with the b14g team to address the incident and says the network’s consensus, validators and staking contracts have continued to operate normally; CORE staked directly with validators or through other protocols is unaffected. Core DAO is supporting b14g and exchange partners in tracking and freezing funds. Most of the stolen CORE remains on the Core blockchain, and exchanges are freezing deposits linked to the attacker. In an earlier statement, b14g said about 97 million CORE staked through its platform were withdrawn without authorization and sent to an attacker’s address on October 31 at 5:29 PM (UTC+8). The team said it paused the affected contracts after discovering the incident and was coordinating with Core, security partners and exchanges to track the funds and arrange freezes and recovery.
