According to CNBC, billionaire Robert Kraft said Ed Sheeran asked him to commit $2 million to match Sheeran's donation for aid in the region after Macklemore was dropped from Sheeran's tour following pro-Palestinian comments from the stage. Kraft said Sheeran called him before Macklemore publicly challenged him to match a $1 million donation the rapper said he would make to Palestinian relief organizations. Kraft also said Sheeran plans to contact other venue owners to encourage additional donations. The dispute followed Macklemore's remarks during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey earlier this month, after which he was removed from the remaining U.S. dates of Sheeran's tour. Macklemore later said on Instagram that Sheeran told him Kraft would not allow him to perform at Gillette Stadium and that stadium owners had given Sheeran an ultimatum. Sheeran's worldwide Loop Tour began in New Zealand and Australia in January, with the North American leg starting in June and scheduled to run through Nov. 7.
