The Advertising Standards Authority has banned five social media ads for AI companion and video-generating apps after finding they promoted the creation of sexually explicit content and the objectification of women, according to BBC. The regulator said the ads, uploaded to Meta platforms, used harmful gender stereotypes and in one case sexualised a girl under 18. It said one ad for Animcha Ltd portrayed someone under 18 in a sexual way, while other ads for Nexaipic, KH31 DD22, Rusto AI and PictoPop encouraged users to upload images and create sexualised or topless videos. Meta had already removed the ads, and the ASA said it may notify platforms and law enforcement where ads are illegal.
