GM Unveils New In-Vehicle Infotainment System for Silverado and Sierra

According to CNBC, General Motors is rolling out a new in-vehicle information and entertainment software experience later this year, starting with its redesigned Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. The automaker said the updated interface, controls and software are designed to offer smartphone-like convenience and customization, and it has reorganized its digital experience operations under design rather than software, led by former Apple and Google executive Sebastian Bauer. GM said the system will proactively surface relevant controls, add a major visual upgrade for Super Cruise by showing objects such as other vehicles and pedestrians on the driver cluster screen, and change how Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work by displaying them in part of the screen instead of taking over the full display. The company said the system is expected to expand across a broader portfolio of vehicles over an undisclosed period.
