Solar has become Europe’s biggest source of power in summer, helped by government incentives, lower technology costs and rapid growth across rooftop and utility-scale projects, according to Bloomberg. On sunny days, the region can generate more solar electricity than the system can absorb, pushing wholesale power prices to zero or below and leaving some renewable generators hurt by the oversupply. Industry experts say the response is more storage, more flexible demand and stronger grids to move power from where it is produced to where it is needed.
