John Fetterman To Appear At GOP Convention In Video Praising Trump, McCormick

According to Axios, Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, a Democrat, is preparing to appear Wednesday night at the GOP convention in a video praising President Trump and Republican Sen. Dave McCormick for helping the U.S. steel industry. Axios reported that Fetterman is not expected to announce a party switch, but he plans to distance himself from socialism in the Democratic Party's left wing. The appearance would come as Fetterman grows more estranged from Democrats, who are expected to view the cameo as political mutiny, while Trump sees it as a win. Sources said Fetterman will introduce McCormick, who helped arrange the appearance, and the two senators formed a joint fundraising committee around the same time. Fetterman has increasingly aligned himself with Trump, opposed measures to block weapons sales to Israel in April, and broke with Democrats during the war with Iran. He also drew criticism after voting to advance now-Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin's nomination, and a Wall Street Journal investigation last week prompted fresh scrutiny of his Senate work habits, which he has disputed.
