South Park Renames New Series South America After Trump Jabs

According to the BBC, the creators of South Park said the animated series' new season will be called South America, in what appeared to be a reference to U.S. President Donald Trump's attempts to rename geographic locations. Matt Stone and Trey Parker said they were inspired by the “bravery and patriotism” of Apple and Google, while the show also thanked parent company Paramount - a Skydance Capitulation. Paramount Skydance is the show's parent company, and the Trump administration this year approved a $111 billion (£82.8 billion) merger with Warner Bros Discovery, one of the biggest media deals in history. The deal has since been paused until June 2027 after 12 U.S. states filed lawsuits over competition concerns and the risk of higher consumer prices. South Park, now in its 29th season, won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program on Sunday, and the new season will premiere on 16 September.
