LG Electronics Talks With SK hynix Over SSD Controller Work End

According to The Korea Herald, LG Electronics’ reported talks to take on part of SK hynix’s next-generation enterprise SSD controller design ended after the memory maker decided to handle the work in-house. Local media reports said the two companies held several meetings in July and August about outsourcing part of the controller’s physical backend design to LG Electronics, citing semiconductor industry sources. The work involves converting a chip’s circuit design into the detailed physical layout needed for production.
