Warsh at Jackson Hole: Inflation Is the Predominant Focus, Forward Guidance Has "Overstayed Its Welcome"

He opened by warning against reading it as a rate signal: "You can call it an outline. You can call it a trail map. "So the Fed's predominant focus right now should be on prices."He explicitly addressed the recent softer prints that had underpinned dovish positioning: "While this summer's PCE and CPI readings were better than expected, they do not tell me that underlying trends have meaningfully improved."His disaggregation of the PCE basket supported that.
