Mumbai Building Collapse After Heavy Rains Kills Six, Including Five Children

According to Lianhe Zaobao citing AFP, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde said Monday (July 6) that an old residential building collapsed during heavy rain the previous day, trapping residents in the rubble and killing six people, including five children. The report said parts of Mumbai have been paralyzed by monsoon downpours, with weather records showing more than 200 millimeters of rain in 24 hours. India’s weather department issued a red alert for Mumbai on Monday, forecasting continued heavy rain and gusty winds, while city authorities ordered all primary and secondary schools and higher-education institutions closed for the day due to flooded roads.
