According to CNBC, Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine on Thursday, targeting Kyiv and other regions, with Russia’s Defense Ministry saying it carried out a “massive strike” using long-range precision weapons and attack drones aimed at military-industrial facilities, fuel and energy complexes, and military airfields. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that Kyiv was under attack from ballistic missiles and UAVs, adding that there were 10 deaths and 34 injured; it was not immediately clear how many missiles and drones were launched or intercepted. Finland temporarily imposed an “aviation restriction zone” in the eastern Gulf of the country before lifting it, while Poland scrambled fighter jets and raised air defenses and radar readiness, calling the measures preventive to protect airspace near threatened regions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday evening that Russia was preparing a “massive” strike and said he was cutting short a trip to Ireland to return to Ukraine.
