U.S. courts released four rulings so far today, with two decisions favoring U.S. President Donald Trump’s side and two going against it. According to Odaily, the U.S. Supreme Court, by a narrow majority, upheld state laws that bar transgender girls and women from competing on girls’ school sports teams, aligning with conservatives and Trump on the issue; Trump called it a “major victory” on social media.
In a separate decision, the Supreme Court overturned long-standing federal limits on coordinated spending between political parties and candidates. Trump described the ruling as “a major victory for Republicans” on social media.
In Rhode Island, a U.S. district judge rejected changes made by the Trump administration to a widely used federal housing assistance program, citing the government’s failure to consider the impact on families relying on the aid. The ruling was described as a win for more than a dozen states, most led by Democrats.
In another divided decision, the Supreme Court rejected Trump’s planned restrictions related to birthright citizenship, overturning a core element of his immigration policy agenda.
