Ansem Says He Misjudged Celebrity Crypto Projects and Discusses Meme Tokens’ Role

Ansem said in a post on X that he had been overly optimistic in judging celebrity involvement in crypto projects, assuming they would not rug millions of supporters, but said reality proved that assumption wrong and he will not repeat the same mistake. According to Odaily, Ansem added that he is not a celebrity and has no intention of exiting a project improperly. He said meme tokens and narrative-driven tokens may still play a net positive role in the crypto market, including attracting new users, providing speculative liquidity, and reviving market sentiment near bear-market bottoms. Ansem cited Dogecoin and Bonk as examples, saying such assets have brought large-scale user participation and wealth effects in different cycles. He said Dogecoin’s market capitalization once reached $11 billion, and that Bonk helped improve sentiment in the Solana ecosystem during a downturn after the FTX collapse. Ansem said he entered the crypto industry in 2017 and quit his software engineering job in 2021. He said he is currently a co-founder of the trading app BullpenFi and runs the podcast project MarketBubble. He said he has previously participated in discussions around multiple meme coins but often encountered anonymous accounts that positioned in advance using liquidity structures and then sold into the attention, turning him into an attention tool. He said the current project is his first time participating while having control over most of the token supply, and that he will try to balance market attention with industry building.
