Anthony Elanga curled in a 28.9-metre goal as Sweden drew 1-1 with Japan at Dallas Stadium, becoming the first Sweden international to score in consecutive World Cup matches since Martin Dahlin and Kennet Andersson in 1994, according to Yahoo Sports. The Newcastle United winger’s strike was Sweden’s second-longest World Cup goal since records began in 1966, behind only Anders Svensson’s 30.9m goal against Argentina in 2002.
The draw left Graham Potter’s Sweden third in Group F on four points and through to the last 32, where they will face one of France, Norway, Germany or Switzerland.
