Ukraine Proposes Direct Talks with Russia to End Conflict

On the 4th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting direct talks between the leaders of both countries. According to Odaily, Zelensky proposed a fair and dignified approach to ending the conflict and establishing effective security guarantees. The letter emphasized Ukraine's intention to avoid prolonged conflict and proactively offered a ceasefire negotiation plan. Ukraine proposed that initial direct consultations between Ukraine and Russia should take place, followed by involvement from the United States, Europe, and other relevant parties to support the development of a subsequent security guarantee system. Zelensky stated that Ukraine is prepared for negotiations and is willing to implement a comprehensive ceasefire during the process. He also expressed readiness to engage in prisoner exchanges with Russia based on the principle of "all for all" to facilitate peace talks. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov responded, stating that Putin has not yet seen Zelensky's open letter.
