AI company Lassie, founded by former Robinhood and Superhuman employees Steijn Pelle and Frédéric Renken, has completed a $35 million Series A funding round led by a16z, according to ChainCatcher. The round also saw participation from Night Capital, Superhuman's founder, Plaid's co-founder, and Wise's co-founder, bringing the total funding to $47 million.
Before developing their code, the co-founders worked manually at a dental clinic for several months, handling insurance claims and payment reconciliations. Lassie is now operational in over 700 clinics across 49 states in the U.S., saving clinic owners more than 250,000 hours of administrative work annually. Alex Rampell, a general partner at a16z, has joined Lassie's board.
Lassie's AI agents directly access clinic insurance portals to retrieve reimbursement data, reconcile accounts, update system records, and verify bank funds, fully replacing human labor rather than adding a software layer.
