U.S. Commerce Department Bans Nvidia and AMD AI Chip Exports to China

The U.S. Commerce Department has taken action to prohibit American companies, including Nvidia (NVDA) and AMD, from supplying advanced AI chips to Chinese-owned enterprises outside China. This move aims to close a regulatory loophole that has existed for over a year. According to Ming Pao, the ban affects Nvidia's most advanced Rubin and Blackwell processors, as well as AMD's MI350x chips.
