Vitalik Buterin Explores New Synthetic Stablecoin Concept

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has revisited his previous proposal for a 'synthetic stablecoin' concept, addressing fundamental issues related to stablecoin pegging. According to Foresight News, Buterin questions what a synthetic stablecoin's value should be stable against, suggesting that the U.S. dollar may not be the best choice. He argues that if the cryptocurrency ecosystem continues to rely on dollar-backed stablecoins, true decentralization cannot be achieved. Buterin proposes an alternative that does not depend on fiat currency: creating price indices and prediction markets for major goods and services categories. Each user would deploy a local LLM to generate a personalized prediction market share portfolio based on their spending structure, serving as a stabilization tool for their 'expected expenditure over the next N days.' In this framework, users could accumulate wealth in assets like ETH or stocks and switch to personalized prediction market shares when value stability is needed, thereby eliminating the concept of currency itself.
