Republicans are expressing growing dissatisfaction with the political contributions of the pro-crypto super PAC Fairshake, which holds $165 million in funds. According to Foresight News, they are urging the PAC to clearly support Republican candidates in this year's midterm elections. The GOP believes that despite significant progress in pro-crypto legislation like the CLARITY Act, Fairshake's delay in announcing its election spending plans is disappointing.
One point of contention is Ohio Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown. Fairshake spent over $40 million in 2024 to defeat then-Senator Brown, but Brown has since softened his stance on the crypto industry. Republicans are concerned that Fairshake might avoid involvement in his current campaign. Similarly, New Hampshire Representative Chris Pappas has seen his Stand With Crypto rating rise from "F" to "A" in eight months, leading Republicans to expect Fairshake to focus on him in the midterms.
Supporters of Fairshake argue that it is still too early to make any announcements and emphasize that the PAC is bipartisan, aiming to reward supporters and penalize critics rather than unconditionally backing the GOP. Some pro-crypto Republicans, like the Winklevoss brothers, have already established independent groups specifically to support Republican candidates.
