Saudi Arabia has carried out several undisclosed attacks on Iran in retaliation for assaults on its territory during the Middle East conflict, according to Odaily. Two Western officials and two Iranian officials familiar with the situation revealed these actions, which had not been previously reported, indicating Saudi Arabia's increasing assertiveness against its regional rival.
The strikes, conducted by the Saudi Air Force, are believed to have taken place in late March, as assessed by the Western officials. This follows a report by The Wall Street Journal on Monday that the United Arab Emirates also launched military strikes against Iran. The actions by Saudi Arabia and the UAE highlight a largely hidden conflict where Gulf states, targeted by Iranian attacks, are beginning to retaliate.
Iranian and Western officials noted that Saudi Arabia informed Iran of these strikes, leading to intense diplomatic engagements. Saudi Arabia threatened further retaliatory measures, which eventually resulted in an agreement between the two nations to de-escalate tensions.
