The U.S. Department of Justice has charged Gannon Ken Van Dyke, a member of the U.S. Special Forces, with using confidential intelligence to profit illegally on the prediction market platform Polymarket, earning over $400,000.
According to Odaily, CNN recently revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump has seemingly shifted his stance on the matter. Upon learning that the soldier bet on the fall of Venezuelan leader Maduro, Trump compared the situation to baseball legend Pete Rose betting on his own team to win, downplaying the incident. Trump remarked, "It's like Rose predicting his team would win. If he predicted a loss, that would be bad, but he predicted a win, and I will look into it."
Furthermore, due to Trump's support for Rose, several of his allies have suggested that Trump should pardon the soldier.
