U.S. Navy Ships Collide During Caribbean Operations

The Wall Street Journal reports that a U.S. military spokesperson confirmed a collision between a destroyer and a supply ship during a refueling operation in the Caribbean. According to Jin10, the incident involved the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Truxtun and the Supply-class fast combat support ship USNS Supply. Two individuals sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition, while both vessels are reported to be safe for continued navigation. Colonel Emmanuel Ortiz of the U.S. Southern Command stated that the cause of the collision is currently under investigation, and the exact location has not been disclosed. The USS Truxtun departed from its home port in Norfolk, Virginia, on February 6 for a scheduled deployment, while the USNS Supply was already on a mission in the Caribbean. The collision occurred within the Southern Command's area of responsibility, which includes the Caribbean Sea and parts of the South Atlantic and South Pacific Oceans.
