Cryptocurrencies are held in either a “hot” wallet, a “cold” wallet, or a combination of both. A hot wallet is connected to the internet while a cold wallet is disconnected from the internet. 

In this sense, having a hot wallet can make users more vulnerable to online attacks but it comes with easier and faster trading and utilizing crypto. In contrast, a cold wallet while less convenient to use, is much more secure than the former.
